2002 Windstar

Hey guys,

Anyone wired a 2002 windstar for trailer lights. I've heard that you have to run wires from the front to the rear in order to get them to work and the harness will run me big $$$$. HELP

Wow what a nightmare. I have an 02 Windstar SE and I wanted it wired for electric brakes. Uhaul wouldnt touch it because of the computers and the wiring. I went to Ford and paid 500.00 for the OEM harness that unplugs in the right rear of the van.
Then it had to go back for another 500.00 for the brake control, 7 pin connector and the feed wire to the trailer battery. to top that off the ford pig tail came labeled wrong and the electric brakes were wired to my headlights. So back a third time. Apopears Ok now but what a pain. I went to Ford as Uhaul scared me saying the van would catch on fire if I went aftermarket. So I paid ford to do it. Learned from the dealer that the Windstar has more computers in it than a luxury car. 2 computers alone for the interior lights. Dont know if its true or not.

Sorry gang, the Windstar is a Taurus platform vehicle not covered by this site. We need to keep our focus and not be an all-Ford vehicle site.
