I was referring to our trucks on the highway, i was towing a 4 place loaded snowmobile trailer last Saturday in mt at 80-85 and felt secure in doing it
I agree that anything over 80 feels unstable, and my X is 100% solid and safe! I couldn't imagine a near 9k lb vehicle being remotely stable at 100 mph!
That being said 5 star is the place to go for tuning the V-10.
It's suprisingly stable actually. In a straight line, I'm not out carving corners with the sports cars and absolutely NOT bobbing and weaving through traffic. If there's no cars, I'll stretch its legs out any chance I can.
Yes, but in a "Finally the traffic is open and I want to be free" moment you're not using your best judgment and he said himself he was getting passed. He was trying to do over 95 and couldn't. To take a completely stock over 100 is COMPLETELY different from some of us doing it. If an internal breaks and he loses his brakes will he know how to handle it? If he has a blowout can he safely steer it off the road (could I even?!?)? Remember how bad our rigs were when we first got them? Even mine needed a little work when I got it and Razzi had it for a month before I got it!
Not singling you out, Jon, just using your post to illustrate my point but, C'mon people the sky is not falling here.
Not taking road condition into consideration (I completely trust and believe LL and Old when they relate how bad I95 is) 55MPH can be dangerous too when the factors some people are interjecting into the conversation are taken into account.
The guy wasn't weaving through traffic doing 90+ and yes, going faster than the speed limit or faster than conditions allow isn't something we should do, but let's not create the Rocky Mountains out of a small rise in the roadway.

Just make sure you have tires that are rated for higher speeds, that is often part of the reason for the limit.
I also find it stupid how so many vehicles now have speedometers with indicators up to 140 mph. like while going that fast somebody could/would/should look down...

Steve, my car reads up to 210... Tops out at 198 but I will never know for sure
Maybe if the downhill run was long enough!
I want to get one of those Reserve Power gauges for the Metro, but it would have to be digital as you would never see a sweep dial needle move that small amount.
I was joking with the tire tech when he pointed out the speed rating on my new BFG's, he said I am good up to 106. I think automakers scale up the speedo so it doesnt look like you are almost topped out. My 82 Vette had a govt mandated 85 MPH speedo and at 75 on the freeway it looked a little strange.

That's the only explanation I could come up with when I thought about it years back. Although the old Lexus ES300 that I may or may not have helped destroy as a juvenile driver did make it to an indicated 137mph on a 140 speedo.
Now I have stuff that exceeds how fast the speedometer can actually read. According to the GPS though, the scale and increments of the Excursion speedometer remain constant past 100 So extrapolation is indeed accurate for that.
