Gentlemen...annnnd the ladies. I just signed up an in. I am going to be upgrading to a F250 vintage 2000-2003 in the very near future. Yea, I know I know ya get these kinda questions all the time but I just gotta ask, so here ya go again. I have a 33' toyhauler that I bought for my dad because that's what he wanted (and I love the old fart) to live in after my mom went to hang with Elvis a few years ago. He's in a senior's home now and seeing that no one is beating a path to my door to take it off my hands I figure I might as well keep it thus the need for the best truck I've heard of to pull it around Texas or anywhere else. The problem is I am not made of money and the truck I get will be my daily driver as well. A ten mile drive to work in the morning and then back home in the evening in Houston traffic. I know stop and go is not a diesels playground but my wife and I WILL be taking 200+ mile trips one way at 75+mph legally(God bless Texas) pretty often during the year. Now, I see bookoo 6.0's out there that are in my price range and in damn good shape and a few 7.3's with high mileage that have been ridin hard, put up wet and pricey. So, my question is can the 6.0 do both and not put me in the poor house? Thanks guys...
The 6.0 is a good motor, just not in the year range you are looking at. If you want a 6.0, get an Oh5 to Oh7 model. The Oh3 and Oh4's had some issues. If you want the 2000-2003 model get the 7.3 and look for one that has not been ridden so hard (LOL).
Either truck will do the job, just depends who you ask I am partial towards the 6.0
IMO the trucks that the 7.3s are in are getting old and people are asking way too much money for them. Like Bruce mentioned, I would take a 05-07 over anything 2004 and older. You can get an 05-07 6.0 for the same price (or less even!) as a 15 year old 7.3 of equal condition.
A 6.0 can be VERY expensive to own.
It's always a gamble.
I was involved with that "cult" for awhile,
but thankfully escaped.
Good luck! Look what happened to this guy:
