I have a 90 bronco 302, when cranking it on a cold engine (not driven for 3-4 hours), it will stall. It seems to only do this if I forget to turn the A/C off before cranking. It starts fine, idles about 1500 rpm for 4-5 seconds. When the, for a lack of a better word, choke cuts out it dies. The rpms drop like a rock. I can crank it the second time and it does just fine. I have begun to expect it to do this so I crank it then wait for it die, crank it a second time and I'm ready to go. Its not so much the problem that annoys me, its the fact that I can't seem to fix it. I have cleaned IAC, tested it (it tested fine), tuned it up, timed it and still no change.
I had the same problem for months. It got real bad two weeks ago. I chased it down to the EGR valve. I removed it and cleened it with spray "intake cleaner". I also cleaned the inside of the throtlebody with the same "intake cleaner". After doing these two things, it fixed up my motor real nice. The RPMs don't drop like a stone anymore. And I don't stall when the engine is cold. And the lowend power "feels" stronger.
You should pull the codes from your computer. I had a code saying the EGR valve was acting up. If I had looked at the codes sooner I would have fixed the problem a long time ago.

Would the check engine light come on to know to check the codes? Just wondering
My check engine light is not coming on. Would it still have codes stored in the memory. I'll give it a try, can't hurt any.
Thanks, I'll let you know what happens.
