Simple intereference engine question
If the cams are not timed properly then the valves would be smacking the pistons and do severe damage correct?
So if the engine will only start if you hold the gas pedal down and crack the **** out of it and it starts and dies with in a few seconds would not be a cam timing issue correct?
I am looking for confirmation that I have not gotten so old that I have gone stupid. I am leaning towards a fuel related issue but scratching my head at this point.
Fourth time I have done timing chains (on different explorers) and never had this issue before. Thanks for opinions.

Did the Explorer run fine before you installed the timing chains? Which engine are you working on? Have you double-checked and triple checked all the vacuum lines, intake air tubing, MAF sensor installation and wiring, etc. to confirm you don't have a large vacuum leak somewhere?
