Shifting linkage problem?

Randomly my Bronco began doing something strange today. It refuses to shift out of Park once started. If I turn the electronics on, but not the engine, it still won't shift. However, if I turn the key some, before the electronics and fuel pump activate, it will shift freely. So I'm starting it in neutral now. Once it's started in nuetral, I can shift freely to and from every gear, except park. If I put it in park it will lock up again. It's irritating. Any ideas?

Shifting linkage problem?

The reason you can shift it when the key is only slightly turned is because it is built that way. You might want to check out your brake-shift interlock. It will prevent you from shifting out of park unless the brake is pressed.
