I can't watch.....

......"Trucks" or "Horsepower TV". Why? Cause I want to go out and start putting that stuff in my vehicles!

I do enjoy those two shows. Too bad I can't actually afford most of that stuff.

Yesterday (I think it was on Trucks) they were talking about crate motors. Anyone have any opinions on these? Any experience? I had the 302 overhauled in my '86 last year and that ran me around $2,300 by the time it was all said and done. The car is gonna be due for an engine down the road and I have no idea what to do with her.

Most of the crate motors seem to be set up for drag racing and not trucks

I think Cheby has a couple that would work for trucks but nothing from Ford.

At Jegs they have 351W Sportsman blocks for sale. They aren't to bad of a price either. I figure with the C4 in my garage, the 351W, and a fuel injection manifold and computer I could have one heck of a sleeper.

I just wish that doing any of the stuff they do on those shows was a fraction of how easy and quick they make it look

It's good show and all but I get tired of "we got the biggest, or best or the most expensive from Jegs"
Gee wish Someone would pay for my truck parts, then I have my own tv show...

Ok maybe I should have checked then. I don't wanna build a motor. The GT-40X/302 they have is nice. 3500 for the whole thing isn't that bad.

I bought a 351w/392 stroker from Ford Racing for my 65 mustang. It is very easy to live with as far as being smooth idling and such. I wouldn't be afraid to put it into a pickup or Bronco. It was complete except for the carb and headers, cost $6000 but I doubt that you could build it for much less. Puts out 430 hp, too, and that's fun to have available.

Not that long ago, I could buy a rebuilt 302 short block for about $300. Do a valve job on the heads and I was ready to go.
