Working on a friend's 1992 Ford Explorer (4.0) - it's a no start/no crank. Anyway, there are a lot of issues I'm finding with the truck, but back behind the fuse box were these two plugins completely unattached (see images). I haven't been able to determine what they are or where they plug in to anything.
The truck is stock, and the big plug is coming off the primary wire harness (appears to be where it's supposed to), and there just isn't a lot of room for the plug to go too far from what it's supposed to go into.
Any help?

Thats where you would plug in a code scanner to check for trouble codes.
Edit to add, the last time i had a no crank was on my 87 Ranger. When i simply added a jumper cable between the negative battery post and the engine block it started right up.
This is a very quick/simple way to check for a bad battery cable.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I guess it makes sense that the scan plug is where it is. I've become used to OBD2 plugs over the years and forgot about these, lol!
