I'm still hoping to get a better understanding of what the 'ControlTrac' display screen is telling/not telling me. A related post that I created a couple days ago seems to have gotten corrupted (possibly by my attachments), so I'm not sure people can even get to it, so ...........
If your 4x4 has 2Hi-4A-4Hi-4L, could you do the following:
1) Go to the 'Gages' option on the dash LCD screen
2) Scroll right to the 'ControlTrac' screen
- note the truck image (top=front, bottom=rear)
3) Drive in 2Hi
- note the 2 white ' - ' lights up showing power going to rear wheels
4) Drive in 4Auto, on dry, non-slippery surface
- I'd like to know if ALL FOUR tires have the ' - ' lit up, even though
you are really not in 4WD since its not slippery
I was kinda hoping this screen would show me when power is/is not being supplied to the front tires while in 4Auto. But if 4Auto always displays power being supplied to all 4 tires, even if thats not really happening, I'm not sure what this screen is telling me ....... I already have a **** telling me what mode I'm in.
I'm watching that screen more since I've had the need to be in 4 Auto lately. It seems like the front wheel indicator 'dash' moves 'higher' and 'lower' on the display and becomes 'larger/smaller' as the amount of power to the front increases/decreases.
But I still need to get comfortable with there almost always being some power to the front in 4 Auto, especially when accelerating. Maybe thats 'normal'.
I think its an interesting screen. Just trying to confirm that my 4WD is operating correctly.
I've posted this question in 3 Ford F-150 forums, and am kinda surprised at the lack of response.
Just an update as I try to educate myself on this ...............
It appears that the dash/hyphen fluctuates up/down and increases/decrease in illumination intensity as power is directed to the wheels.
Give it a try .......... maybe we can figure this out collectively.
I've done my share of Google-ing for an explanation of this screen and I cant find anything helpful - if anyone stumbles onto anything, please share. Part of me thinks some material in the owner's manual packet might exist, possibly even as a DVD.
