Question E4OD Question

Well being that the transmission shop wanted $3000.00 to rebuild my E4OD. I bought one.
My question is, Do I fill the torque converter before I install it? Or do I just put the trans in and let it fill through tht trans?

E4OD Question

It should have a little oil in it from the factory so you can just fill it from the fill tube. Just put in about 6 quarts then crank it up for a couple of seconds to get the pump going. Then put about 6 more in and do the same thing. Then fill it up the rest of the way. Then crank it and let it sit in neutral for a little bit to get it circulating. Then try shifting through all the gears and take it for a spin. LG

E4OD Question

I prefer to fill the TC about half full then slide it onto the tranny before firing it up. Others will let the pump do the work and add fluid as it is running. Probably not a big difference but I always get squeemish running equipment without lube.
