Do the Ford Wheel well liners actually work? Do they trap road salt, mud, etc at the seams where they connect to the body, which would hasten corrosion?
They do work, by preventing the tires from acting like sand blasters inside of the bed walls. It's a crime that they are an OPTION and not part of the vehicle. One of my very few complaints about my SD.
They don't trap much, and I believe without them the bed walls would literally be packed solid with road grit, way up at the bed rail where you really cant clean out effectively.
may i ask what ford wheel well liners you are talking about please
i just noticed the 2016 platinum SD on my dealer lot have rear fender liners and wondering if they will fit the older up SD's
I was really undecided about well liners when I got my truck.. I ended up not getting them. but now since I'm looking into mud flaps, well liners came to mind again also.
They obviously shield a lot of the components in there, but doesn't it make it difficult to clean and access everything behind them? In the winter, I like to hose all the salt off of everything underneath. How easy do they go in/come out? Easy to spray up behind them, from underneath?
A friend of mine had an F-150, think it was an 03', 2wd. It had well liners, and during a big snow storm, they kept getting packed with snow somehow, and started partially popping out, and getting in the way of the tire. So he cursed, and ripped them out. That was a long time ago, but it made me wonder if they where just going to be a hassle.
I don't do any off-roading at all, but if they really stop road damage in the long run, maybe I'll get a set too.

Agree. It's BS that we should have to buy these because they are a must have.

I had them put on my truck. My truck will see mud and road salt. The liners should limit where the mud goes. Not sure if they will slow down rust or not.
One other question, do they hang down next to the frame far enough to prevent access to the Gooseneck adjustment handle that they would prevent you from being able to pull the handle?
I had them put on my '14 SD and they sure helped me to keep the mud and salt from building up. made the truck way easier to keep clean underneath. Didn't have time to put them on my '16 before i had to get to work, but i'll be putting them on as soon as i get a chance. probably when i put the double add-a-leafs in.

They do not.
I live in Ohio and they do not create a snow dam in the wheel well. They do stop most of the road crud from getting up in the rail area.
If you can, I would recommend getting them.

I purchased an set after I had my '14...and after I'd already installed my B&W turnover ball hitch. needed to drill about a 4.5" hole with a hole saw to be able to get at the release lever, but i'd rather do that than have to deal with all the mud, leaves pine needles, etc that would get deposited inside the bed walls without them
