February B.S. Thread!
Hey guys! I've noticed a couple other folks at least checking in on the Ky Chapter! It's always nice to see new names pop up here.
Ain't been real busy myself lately. Most of my work has been up here in N. Ky area. I was in Ashland Tuesday though (Well, actually Catlettsburg) replacing a spindle on a Mack Pumper Truck sitting off I-64 at US-23. I've been dealing with several foreigners here of late. Those of you in the trucking business know what I'm talking about. My patience and understanding with them has disappeared.
Anyhow, Happy February!

I got rid of the Jeep Liberty and picked up a 2006 Explorer on the cheap. So I'm an all Ford owner again.
The Explorer has a high mileage 4.6 and I don't know if the timing chain has ever been serviced. So I'll keep an ear out for rattling and plan to replace it in the spring.
It has the 6R60 transmission instead of the 5R55, which is good, but it still kills me that I can't check the fluid without crawling under it.
We'll see how it goes.

This last snow probably hit you pretty good, didn't it Ken? We got about 5 inches or so. The one before it, we got 1 inch, when they were calling for 6. But, you didn't have to go very far south to find it really deep. I know Ashland got 18 inches! I bet you Michigan guys could teach us a thing or two about snow, especially if you're from the U.P.!
Welcome to the Ky Chapter John! If you're ever down this way, you need to stop by!

Thanks for the offer. Snow is all about the tires on your truck. We've yet to get anything to speak of this winter. I'm actually down at the bottom in the south east corner. I was down at mammoth cave over the summer camping with my girls. Truck problems made that trip a pita! I filled up as soon as I got down there, bad fuel! Clogged up my tank, airdog and somehow made it through the filter and water separator! A few thousand dollars later..... I couldn't find a Cummins dealer around there but I managed to limp it home after a week of driving around. She wasn't happy to say the least

Mammouth Caves is at the other end of the state for me. I'm near Cincinnati, OH. Sorry to hear about the fuel in your truck. Were you able to get the gas station to foot the bill? I've heard some folks have been able to do that. You said a couple thousand bucks to fix, I thought that would run a lot more than that. I have a friend with an 09 Dodge that installed a FASS system specifically because of the fear of contaminated fuel.

No I didn't because bother, that kind of headache 2 states ways from home wasn't worth the effort.
The price wasn't bad to get it fixed, the headache of figuring out exactly what it was was much worse.
I did the same thing but an AirDog. At the time I was running a 5 micron filter and the "fuel" filled my water separator almost instantly.
When I drained the tank it smelt like a cow pasture! The fuel wasn't even flammable. I deliberately spilt some on concrete and took a small torch to it.... It never caught fire.
