There were multiple misfire codes set, and it showed up on a normal scan tool. It wasn't a pending code or anything. They were hard codes that identified which cylinders weren't firing.

We plugged in my laptop with the FORScan software, and the truck had over 20,000 detected misfires. Still no check engine light.

While trying to sort out an unrelated issue, we unplugged the transmission solenoid pack connector, and it immediately triggered a check engine light.
