On a '68 the 8.15 x 15 was standard.. there is no P-metric equivalent. But a 215/75-15 appears to be the closest.
In 1970, it was the G78-15... a 215/75-15 and 225/70-15 are today's P-metric equivalent.

Most guys run a 235/75R15. Either a P-metric XL or a LT metric. 30x9.50r15lt is a little taller yet. 31x10.50 is popular. (That's what I run) and I've seen as big as 32x11.50 on a stock 2wd.
If you are considering buying new wheels, I highly recommend buying 16" diameter. There are SOO many more tire choices.
