A 2000 Superduty uses straight Mercon NOT MercV. MercV will cause problems as per our resident tranny expert from Ford, Mark Kovalsky

Outpost22, James has a Light Duty truck (7700), not a Superduty. Mercon V is probably correct in his case.

An aux cooler does sound like it would be more affective. Only problem is where to put it. Space in the radiator area is pretty limited. Where are u guys installing yours?

Some aux. coolers come with plastic rods that attach to radiator cooling fins., they also can be mounted laying flat behind the bumper. or even between the headlamp and rad.on core support, just as long as air can flow thru.

I mounted my tru cool 40,000 gvw cooler in front of the condenser without using brackets. There are 2 plastic beams that run vertically behind your grille that you can drill through to bolt the cooler without brackets. The hard part was getting the fluid lines off the old cooler without pulling the condenser out of the way. I partially unbolted the condenser to swing the bottom of it out then you can get to the lines. The new cooler will mount on the backside of those vertical plastic beams and the grille and condenser has plenty of clearance. Hope this helps.
