So my explorer sport sometimes pulls the right, pretty hard, enough that when I hit bumps on the road it swings all over the place. I took it in and after checking the calipers the one on the right was pretty hard to move so I`ve had them change both front ones. It was fine for a day and started doing it again. It never does it for too long, 10 to 15 Kms and it`s fine again. Any ideas.......
Are you applying the brakes when you hit the bumps and you feel it pull to one side? If not, I would have your calipers rechecked and replace your brake fluid.
No I don`t apply the breaks, it pulls without it. I can feel there is a resistance when accelerating also. And I just replaced the 2 front calipers, breaks were good, done not that long ago. Could it be the back ones..
You might walk around after a drive and feel the wheels to see if one is noticeably hotter than the others, or if you have an IR thermometer, use it to determine if the temps are pretty similar.
You could also try moving wheels around. If your tires are not directional, swap left to right to see if that changes the behavior. You might have a tire or two with a separated belt.
Also check the tire air pressure to make sure all tires are properly inflated according to the tire placard in the driver's door jamb.
Start with tire pressure. Make sure the tires have the factory recommended PSI. As mentioned already, rotate tires if low PSI isn't the problem. If there's still pull after the rotation that would suggest to me that your alignment is off. You don't mention how many miles are already on your Sport, but if it's high miles and nothing in the front end has ever been replaced then you'll be in the money for replacing upper & lower ball joints, outer tie rods, control arm bushings, and getting the alignment done. If your control arm bushings are old/cracking/dry-rotted don't do the alignment until the bushings or whole control arms are replaced. Bad bushing will throw off a new alignment in a short time if not immediately.
