Alternator installation problems…!!!!

I absolutely cannot get the long bolt on the alternator to get through to where it is threaded. it is making it about halfway through the long hole on the alternator and then gets stopped. tried lube, turning with a ratchet with pressure. it will not go any further!!!! no room for a hammer... the long bolt cannot be removed all the way out of the brackets because it hits the radiator just before pulling out, so i can't try and push the bolt through away from the van. what else should i try!!???

I might try to run a drill bit though the long hole on the alt.... or a round file or a ???. Keep at it you'll make it. Good luck.

Check to see of the front and back of the alternator is clocked correctly. You might need to loosen the case screws and give it a little wiggle one way or another.
