I'm in the middle of a restoration of a 72 cj5 and im thinking its going to be done around the time my trucks lease is up. if i buy a car trailer that weighs around 3000 pounds and the jeep is 4000 what do you think i should get next? im thinking 5l f150 with max tow package AND not getting another 3.5 l ecoboost because i had many problems with my 2011 AND the diff went on it. So 6.2 or 5l?
That's a real heavy car trailer at 3K pounds. Mine also weighs 2K and it's a 20 ft flatbed, with a full wood bed. I think you would be fine with a half ton truck pulling that CJ5 around. If that is going to be you're *only* towing need "ever* then sure, get a half ton. But if there's an RV trailer or "toy hauler" in your future, may as well get a 250 or 350 now and just get it over with.
