I've got a 1985 f-150 with a 302 efi and i want to change the engine.
the replacement engine is 302 carbarator style out of an earlyer 1985 f-150. I've got one person telling me i have to change the top end over from the intake up and stay fuel injected, and another person telling me that i can just change the throttle cable and go carburator.
I'm not sure if either guy knows what he's talking about.
As you can tell I'm new at this engine changing stuff and I really need your help guy's.
Thanks.
yea you could just leave the carb on there it wouldn't be that hard but then you have the problem of having to take out a couple fuel pumps or run a regulator to get the pressure down plus you're really better off with the efi anyways generally better gas mileage, a better temper to the motor, and if you live in an area where you have to take a smog test you'd be sol with the carb truck. but good luck with it either way
the truck has allready passed the emmissions test up here in ontario so it's good for two years.
but i agree with you guy's that i should stay with the EFI if it's not that hard to change the intakes over thats what i'll do
