Well, I am not sure why mine rusted out Under the drip rail, and only a little above. It did sit for 13 years in my barn, in NorCal wet environment, but other than that, it lived outside, in the rain, sunshine, snow, fog, and a few nice days in traffic and smog in SoCal. No reason pops into my head for the rust.. but never mind,

Nice job Whiskey.

I won't know about my roof until spring. I'm going to do the glass then too. Then deal with the issues as they come.

Under hood Clip

Anyone know what this clip is for? It's out of my engine compartment I believe??? One of the things I didn't label. I'm not positive if it came out of the engine compartment but I think so. So, if anyone knows for certain what it's for let me know, Thank you, Todd.

I'm going to call it a frog clip since its outline looks like the silhouette of a frog sittin' still in the water right before a big-*** bass is going to slurp it up!

Cool project. For the drivers door, which is curious, what stands out as a possibility is that the drivers side sits on the windward "weather side" of the trucks outside life. Perhaps exacerbated by a leaky weatherstrip? All fixed now though. Looks great!

Update

Well guys, been awhile since I posted in my build. Here's some of what I have been working on since Nov.

Steering column sans steering wheel assembly, patiently waiting reassembly. My gear indicator is home made

I- Beam w/ new king pins. Process: Oven cleaner, pressure wash, wire wheel, wash with detergent, rusty metal primer, gloss black enamel- 6 coats with a brush. King pins were put in after cleaning and before primer.

Radiator support, courtesy of Mrcman58. Same process minus oven cleaner for prep and paint. You'd never know it was brush painted. I think I may wet sand the hi-vis areas and clear coat.

Spare tire bracket. Same process as I-beams.

Both doors gutted and ready for work. This is my next task.

Any tips or tricks on refurbishing the regulators?

Anyone have a clue what this crap is on my lock mechanisms?

Is it hard to take these apart?

I think that I would use some sort of media blasting to clean the regulators.

I think the crud on the lock mechanisms is old dried lube with some dust mixed in. Looking like your keeping busy this winter. Who did your king pins?

Look on Trozei's build thread. A few pages ago he redid these.
