BD Performance chip

Pulled the PCM from my parts truck today and discovered a chip installed in it. I have no idea what sort of tunes it would be. Good? Bad? Ugly?

I have a hypertech the same color and basic design that was in my truck.

bd must have had a private label with their tunes to sell back in the day.

I couldnt complaign about mine. the old thing added decent power i thought.

Any idea what kind of power gains could be expected? Fuel economy, + or - ?

Mine was marked 50 hp.

To be honest I put it in plus efuel, bellowed up pipes,t500 . Power was great for what it was.
Mileage was dreadful. I'm not sure if it was chip or t500 or efuel . Boost stock was 22. With everything but t500 was 25. T500 actually stroking the stix got me to 30psi. All in all I didn't have it in but a few months but was happy.
Check PCM code . They have to be the same family to transfer. I got rid of my naw4 PCM for as tde1 to make the chip work as it needed a td code and not na . If you have a parts truck just swap PCM and chip

Well, I swapped out the PCM today, definitely made a difference. I still have issues with a couple of bad injectors not firing when cold, but the truck started below 40° and it'll actually get out of its own way before the injectors kick in.
Guess next project is to send the spare set of injectors to Rosewood.

without knowing what the tunes are that are in there, no one can really say how good or bad it is. but that is most likely a generic superchips with canned tunes sold by BD Performance.

Except for the PCM code written on the tag there is no info on the chip. Oh well, like I said, I'll try it for a while. Only takes minutes to put it back to stock.

I have one of those BD chips too that came in my 95 truck when I bought it. I haven't taken it out to see how much of a power difference it makes.

I have been curious to see how much of a difference it makes, but it is too cold out to play with it now.

Not exactly sure what all they are supposed to help, but my truck definitely has more pep and the transmission has firmer shifts. Haven't driven it enough to tell about fuel economy, but I know it will drop at first because of me playing with the new power. ;-)

The chips generally call for more injector pressure to fire the injectors more efficiently.

This is what gives you more pep.

duno enough about auto's to say why its firmer there.

That could be due to swapping PCMs, but not sure.
