Did quite a bit of research. Here are my results...
Per other threads, the LMC Replacement Dual Coil Speaker does NOT fit our factory mounting bracket, and will take considerable modification to install. (Screwing/bolting to the metal dash)
Turnswitch.com has a proven solution to fit in our factory location with our factory mounting bracket. Below I have the dialog from a Greg at Turnswitch Classic Car Speakers. Very nice gentlemen. Fair price for a quality custom speaker. $59 after shipping to VA was added.
We use our 6x9 in 8 ohm for this application. Our 5x7 speaker is too shallow to work with the mounting bracket. Our 6x9 drops right in. The speaker sells for $49.95 + S&H. To order, just call us toll free at (877)780-2861. We accept VISA and MC.
Thank you for the inquiry,

I use a lot of info off this site. I just want to contribute what I can.
Bookmarked for inclusion in the Tech Info Compilation.
Does anyone have local experience with LMC's ill-fitting (surprise!) dual coil speaker? Post up pics or anecdotal experience!!!
No I don't Hio but I am assuming it is the magnet size that's the problem. It's prolly too big. From memory the speaker bracket goes under the speaker and maybe around the small factory magnet.
Please see the first two pictures below. This was from an unfortunate gentleman that ordered the LMC "Replacement" only to find out that it was far from a plug-and-play.
The third picture is the Turnswitch.com 6x9 speaker. You can see what Greg is talking about. I believe because of its smaller diameter magnet it will drop right into our original bracket. It also comes with a fabric dust shield to prevent debris from vibrating on the cone.
Thanks Treverd, I haven't put a radio back in my 69 F350 yet, but I'll bookmark that site. The PO of my truck installed a CD player but you had to use headphones because he removed the speaker for the CD player to fit. I'd rather just have a plain AM-FM radio. I'm not exactly driving a whisper quite Rolls-Royce anyway.
Note Gentlemen. This is a single voice coil speaker. AKA Mono. It would be perfect for a AM mono radio but not for a stereo aftermarket radio. Multiple channels. High output aftermarket radios usually have a "floating ground". So they wouldn't really like hooking both front channel positive and negative wires to this one speaker. It may work, but that will be hard on the aftermarket radio's internal amplifier. Notice how the ill fitting LMC speaker has two sets of wire connections.
