Can someone tell me what the measurements are for the mounting holes for my new sport mirrors? I included a picture of RANDLE's truck for reference because I have the same mirrors as him. Plus I know everyone likes an excuse to look at RANDLE's truck.
Front edge of door to first screw hole?
Bottom edge of window to first crew hole?
You mount it where ever it works for YOU. From the factory they were delivered in the glove box as per ND and the same with my Dad's 72, which we promptly pitched in the trash barrel, and got real mirrors that worked.
So called "sport" mirrors (Ford never called them that) were C7AZ-17696-A Passenger Car and 1967/72 truck standard equipment L/H mirror. Could also be installed on the right side.
These were not factory installed as the dealers installed all the outside mirrors.
No such Ford part number as C7TZ-17696-S .. This is a repro sellers phony-baloney Ford part number.

Bill, thanks for the info. I see the part number from RANDLE's post, C7TZ-17696-S, is the one you've indicated is not a legitimate part number. So, is it possible that diagram came with some aftermarket mirrors?
The measurements on the diagram seam reasonable, and I was planning on using them......unless you have more information about how/ where dealers installed them?
As always Bill, you're knowledge is a benefit to us all.
The mirrors I used on my truck, I got from Carpenter, part no C7TZ-17696-M. Carpenter says they are for a 67-79 F100/350. Outside Rear View Mirror | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts
I know the mirrors were dealer installed. The drawing is what I went by when I put mine on. The main thing I was concerned with was the vent window hitting the mirror, but installed like the drawing shows and the way my mirrors are adjusted they clear by about 3/4".

Thank you again RANDLE.
My mirrors came from Dennis Carpenter also, but I didn't get a diagram like you did. Yours like fine on your truck, I still believe I will be using the measurements you gave.
So I got this set of mirrors from Carpenter as well and was trying to find some measurements on mounting them on my 70 F-100 and ran across this thread. I also found the diagram that was mentioned above but it will not work. If I measure 1.25" out from the window, it puts it right on the door crease where the door panel goes down. Plus, the diagram looks like it is for a bronco only because the shape of the door on the bronco is different than the F-100. So, does anyone have any actual measurements for the F-100 or is it like was mentioned above "wherever works for YOU" The P/N I have is C7TZ-17696-M Thanks
I can go double check mine, but I'm pretty sure I ended up using the measurements from Randle's diagram.
Ok thanks. Im pretty sure that the 1.25" measurement is impossible on the F100 door though. The door creases right there. The bronco door is just rounded away from the window, like in the pic shown.

It is 1.25" from the body line not the window. The drawings not really clear on that.
AAAHHH well very good then. That makes better sense because I believe the drawing is of a bronco door anyway. Whatever though, thanks for the reply and the pic!
I hung those 2 or 3" round after markets from the top of the doors on my Green Hornet. My son said the truck now looks like shreck....
I know this doesn't have squat to do with this thread, it's still funny
