No more Diehard platinum batteries
So I purchased a pair of diehard platinum batteries about 2 years ago. Well while trying to find a coolant leak that I am messing with. I noticed the Drivers size battery has a crack in the top case. From the Positive terminal to the side probably about 1.5" long. It doesn't look like any battery acid is leaking. I call Sears they inform me over the phone that they no longer carry Platinum batteries as of this past summer. Only thing they can do is swap it out for a Diehard Gold which has less cranking amps and less warranty. And they will only swap out the cracked battery not both. He did mention they have had many of the Platinums crack and its only superficial and doesn't affect the battery. I knew I should have stuck with the Autozone duralast batteries! These things where expensive. So I am thinking about just putting some epoxy on the case and let it ride. So all you guys and gals with Plantinums just be aware the potential for a crack. Mine have been secured properly with the factory hold downs, which are on the base of the battery. The excursion does ride a bit rough but nothing excessive....
