I have a 1988 F250 XLT Lariat w/302 that i would like to swap with a 351. How should i go about this? Im not a complete noob, but pretty close!

 

Go get yourself a complete 5.8 motor from a donor truck, get the right flywheel or flexplate for your trans, remove the 5.0 and bolt the 5.8 in there. Very few parts on the 5.0 will transfer to a 5.8.. hence the need for the complete motor, the exceptions are the accessory brackets and what they hold... this will transfer, and the wiring harness. DO NOT attempt to use any wiring that comes with the donor motor, remove the upper intake and pull it all off and throw it away. For the 5.0 do the same, remove the upper intake and disconnect all the wiring and leave it in the truck, and just plug it back into all the injectors and sensors and stuff when the 5.8 is bolted in. You can't use the flywheel/flexplate from the 5.0.. wrong imbalance weight, and the exhaust will have to be modified a little as the 5.8 block is a little wider and taller.
