When tampered with, an odometer will stick halfway between the numbers and sometimes a little pin will drop into view. When my corvette speedo broke, I fixed it, but learned all about how they act when messed with. Luckily it was broken when I bought it so I still sold it with mileage unknown. I would guess this truck has mileage that at the very least can't be trusted.

I would consider a 300k Ex for the right price if the condition meet my needs. divorce sale + tamper odometer could = bargin. Lets put it this way, he can never trade it into a dealer with that odometer, most people would be scared of a 300 or 400k vehicle.... I'd look at it and if I liked it offer him 1/2 of his asking price. He'll probably say no, give him your number and ask him to call if he changes his mind. If it is like most divorces and he is selling it before he has to give 1/2 to the wife he will call in a few days. Sad but that's the way that deal works more times then not.
