I'm guessing most/all of the things that were "standard" in an XLT were options on an XL, so it could be any combination of things. Things to expect:
* No A/C
* No cruise
* Manual-only locks
* If Nemo mirrors, black back-sides instead of chrome
* Cheap vinyl bench seat
* Less fancy interior door panels (not all the little pockets)
* Steel wheels with lame wheel covers ('course, some XLTs had steel wheels too....)
* Matte finish (no chrome) grille / headlight surrounds
* Painted (not chrome) rear bumper
* MAYBE no interval wipers
I'm sure there's more; that's what comes to mind.

What he said. What madpogue wrote is basically right, but it could have some of those options. I just worked on one with ac.

My white truck is an xlt, and it has a rubber floor. My green one is also an xlt and its got carpet.

What I'm getting at is what everyone else has already said, you won't know until you get there.

^^^^ Both our PSDs are XLTs. One was bought new, special ordered, by a country veterinarian who specified rubber floor instead of carpet. Any of the above could go either way between XL and XLT, that just what's generally different between them, not an absolute. Stuff to look for.

another big one is that XL will usually have manual 4X4, XLT will usually have ESOF.

Get the VIN# and run it in the tool here and it should tell you what it has.

Yeah I always thought ESOF was rare on the OBS 3/4-tons and up. Maybe more common on the half-tons and Broncos.

All 3 of mine have the lever. Best way imho. The only old truck I had that had esof was my 90 ranger. Worked great once I got a new shift motor on it and Manual hubs.
