locking hubs
does anyone know how to get the 4x4 locking hubs off a 89 bronco II. i tried the bronco II forum, but those guys are worthless. just proves again that this is the best forum on fte.
thanks
This is not an instant solution but go to this ebay auction. 2425273659 email the guy and see if he has one for your application.
It's where I bought my CD repair manual for my "biggie" sized Bronco. I like the paper manuals well enough and have one for my 53, but this CD manual is unreal for the newer stuff. Best money I ever spent. About 3000 pages of model year specifics. Alot of help chasing the less than obvious things. Such as the 1994 Bronco feature where your transmission won't shift correctly if you blow a tail light bulb. That is just one of the many handy features the electrical engineers built into mine. I might need to rebuild the drivetrain whenever I launch my boat and get the bulbs wet, but at least I won't get a warning ticket from the police.
Did you try the transmissions/differential forum? There are some smart guys over there.

Removal and Installation
Raise the vehicle and install safety stands.
Remove wheel hub bolt nuts (1012) and the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Section 04-04.
Remove lugnut retainer washer from studs.
Remove the manual locking hub assembly.
CAUTION: Do not remove the screw from the plastic dial.
Slide internal hub lock assembly, spring and clutch gear out of hub body.
For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Tighten lugnuts to 135 Nm (100 ft-lb).
Cut and paste from Ranger Shop manual. Should be similiar.
