Carbed 5.8 & e4od
Can anyone tell me what I will have to do to make this engine, computer & trans cooperate with this conversion? Or should I use a different trans altogather.
My current (e4od) trans isn't in the best of shape and has already been rebuilt once.
All advice will be appreciated.

You have two options in my mind: Put a MAF fuel injection unit on the engine and have a chip burned for the engine/tranny combo. You already have most of the necessary wiring in the truck to do most of the conversion. That way the nice rebuild engine w/ performance parts does not go to waste. Better gas milage too.
OR,
Put in a AOD or C6 trans and clean up all the old computer wiring and run wire for the choke on the carb, the igniton, some of the sensors, and remove all of the emissions stuff.
Putting in a another trans would require a different tranny crossmember, driveshafts, also you would loose your ABS brakes (I think).
Seems to me that converting the engine to MAF would be easier in the long run, may be more expensive, but less time consuming.
Just my .02,

This is a "New Age" project for my undertaking, and with great entheuseism. Just want to do my homework B-4 diving into it.
I did find the Baumannator web site and am inquiring into having them rework my trans after reading their articles.
The engine I aquired is in the 350 + hp range so I'm told. And only been test run from the rebuilder.
Would you happen to know the specifics if heads have "WINDSOR" cast into the rocker area, and are they a worthwhile head? or would it be worth changing them to something that will breathe better?
I plan on using the truck to run the sand dunes on Lake Michigan, as well as drive it on the street.
Once again THANKS for your input.
