another no start

Yesterday I swapped my starter because the old one was getting weak. I also swapped out the gpr with a spare I had laying around because the colder it got the longer it took to engage. I did the usual, disconnect the batts swap it out and reconnect. I tried to start the truck last night but it just cranked with no smoke. Wts light comes on, gps work, everything seems normal. I checked all the sensor wires around where I was working and there all connected. I'm not seeing tach movement so I will swap the cps today in then try again. Just wondering if you guys know of anything else to check

Never mind. Didn't see your second response. Hopefully that's all.

Happy New year Nick!

Ok. Draining hpop wasn't the problem. The truck wouldn't even a tempt to fire today.i have a feeling it's low voltage to the pcm or idm. Or a poor ground, one of the two.

Happy.new year to you too Thomas

I haven't. It started the day before after it came off the charger. Yesterday it seemed like the volt gauge was a little lower when cranking. Also when I tested the gpr I went across the two small pins and only saw 10.4 volts to them. That was with he glow plugs disconnected

Yeah, that sounds a little low Nick. I would start with what you said and check all the grounds and battery connections. How old are your batteries?

Last January. They've never been run down and the fluid is still to the top in them. There is some of the insulation missing on the driver side ground wire and it has corrosion through it. What do you think about trying my jumper cables from the negative to the block and see if that helps

I'm not really sure what to say. I topped up the charge on the batteries today and pugged it in. Truck fired up right away. Dammit anyway lol. So I am down to either poor ground or weak batteries. I guess I should leave the jumpers in the truck so there ready to go. The batteries have another 4 years full replacement on them. I'm still leaning towards the main ground wire though because the bat voltage was at 12.4 and the power wires from the pcm were showing 10.4. Those 2 volts are getting lost somewhere

is the cable corroded/got the acid crap on it? try pulling the ground off, cleaning all the dirt and grime off and reinstalling.

Connections ae clean. Cable is not. I have a battery post fixer upper thingy so I'll cut the cable back and put it on and so how that does.

Here's an update. I replaced the ground cable and no change. It still doesn't want to fire. If I let the glow plugs warm up then firm the ignition off and go straight to start it will always fire.

Unhook the two small wires from the GPR and try it.
