Just another day in the desert here... Not really!
We went on a ride with a number of friends out to the WW2 bombing range not far from our park.. We found a bunch of shrapnel from the test bombs.
Originally they look like this first guy below - now they look like the other pics.
Jerry, Nancy, Darlene and I wanted to get back to the park as we planned on taking another trip out in the afternoon. As we made our way back to the park, Jerry and Nancy spotted a large bird sitting on a stump, as they slowed, he (she) hopped down and with a partially extended wing walked out away from the trail. We all stopped to observe and it was then that it was determined that this bird was a large Red Tailed Hawk and it had a broken wing. No way was that hawk going to survive long in the desert like that. Jerry thought quickly and took his jacket off to try and catch the bird to bring it to a raptor rescue place. I went to assist but quickly realized that I was just going to make things worse by getting too close - so I shot video instead.. Please check out the video.
Never a dull day out here. I got an update from the Liberty Raptor Rehab Center and was informed that she had a compound fracture possibly agravated from a previous injury. They cleaned it up set the broken bone and she will be in intensive care overnight then as she improves she will go to the rehab section and finally a flight cage. If all goes well she will eventually be a candidate for release at which time we will be contacted and we will be invited to participate in the release.
We have a little more than that Jim. At least the ground is covered.
My snow stake here at home on the lawn is about 4" but 3 miles away, the fields are 70% grass. You guys should get a storm this weekend. Of course we are on the east side of it so more f'in rain
Thnx guys...
Well it's off to bed for me... Headed to the Barrett-Jackson tomorrow morning.... Not bidding, just drooling... Supposed to be mid 70's - that will be nice! Last time I was there was 2010 and it rained darned near the whole week and then a tornado blew through the area...

Good morning Jay!
Gee you must really not like to look at nice cars. Watching paint dry is about as boring as it gets.
