My 460 ford engine in my boat just blew up. With 10 hours on it the head gasket blew and two pistons on the other side of the block cracked. The pistons were hyper utechtich (?sp). The motor was profesionally built by Deltech in Calgary but he won't warranty it. He said thats the chance you take with hyperformance. It only has 380 HP. Not too hyperformance in my opinion.
I'am now fixing the engine myself because I can't afford another full rebuild.
My question is this. Two of the hyd lifters are different from the rest. They have smaller holes in the push rod oilier area. They were both installed on the same side of the block.
All Ford Hyd. Lifters are the same. You could take them out of a 302 and put them in a 460 if you wanted. I think they should rebuild the engine for you. They probably didnt surface the heads and use new head bolts, that is why the head gasket blew and then the water cracked the pistons.
The 2 hyd lifters in question were not in the same side as the cracked pistons. The cracked pistons were on the opposite side as the blown head gasket.
I was invoiced for a new set of speed pro HT9000R high rev lifters. I was wondering if I am getting charged for parts not installed.
