Ol'Rattlure is all but completely stopped. It has been showing CEL every time I have drove it. The last outing was tuff, I thought I was not going to get back home. But it did.
Now that is in the drive way, now when I start it cold it cranks right up, idles right 650-700 rpm. As soon as the glow plug relay cuts off so does the truck. It is absolutely a fast shut down , just as if I cut the switch off.
I can do this all day, WTS, start , GPR drops out and engine shuts off.
I got a cable that plugs into the port under the passenger side dash now I have to find a USB female to a mini USB male connector to my tablet with Torque Pro App
I have a guy that work at the ford place here and is awesome on PSD engines. He promised to bring the old style computer reader from his work, he has both styles plus all the new stuff. He owns all his tools and test equipment.
He also has a very nice shop at his house, but he is as slow as molasses at the south pole in winter. he also has told me 3 times in the last 2 weeks he will stop by here a check it out. He drives by my house twice a day, every day he goes to work, it is just about 1/2 mile out of his way.
Any ways I will try to find an adaptor of my tablet and see if I can get Torque Pro to work
I hope all of ya'll had a Great Christmas and a better year coming.
Hey Joey! I am working in Raleigh now. I stay in Cary during the week. Try unhooking the two small wires on the glow plug relay. Don't let them touch anything, maybe tape the ends up. Start it up and see what it does.
Well Fellows Ol'Rattlure is up and stroking again!!!
Bill came over and hooked his computer to my old truck and saw that the ICP was acting up and not reading correctly.
Got the ICP from Riffraff and installed it today, cranked right up and idled for better part of an hour. Oh man was that nice to hear. Took it down the road and ran like a champ.
Many thanks to ReBill for helping this ol'man out, also all the other guys that gave advise.
That is great news! That darn rebuild is a dang good character. We could all learn a great deal from him. I know I will prob never be able to repay his kindness. Hope ol rattletrap treats you well for quite a long time!
Good to hear Joey! Glad it's up and running again. It was great to finally meet you and your wife, and thanks for the good chili!
Thanks for the kind words and the reps guys!
