Welcome to this site. If you can describe your particular concerns, I would bet someone here will have an answer. This is where the experts on your truck dwell. If you can, down load a pic along with the question. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned, voice your concerns. Is the truck stock or does it have modifications? Pictures?

Welcome to the forum!

I looked in the forum's membership list for F1 - F8 owners who live in SC, believe it or not there is no one near you. I assume you don't want to do the work yourself? These are pretty simple trucks, if stock. The more you tell us about your truck, the better advise we can give.

I've noticed that too. There is hardly anybody in the entire state of South Carolina on this forum. I can only think of one guy, and he only posts about going to the Rod Run twice a year. He's not active otherwise, and I think he's in the western part of the state anyway.

I'll make a deal with you--I am certainly not an "expert", probably not even a novice. But my wife says if you'll rent us one of those beautiful little beachfront cabins at that resort over on the Isle of Palms, she will allow me to turn wrenches on your truck and get it running like a song. It's about a 6-7 hour drive for us. I've always wanted to visit the ocean in the winter. Just kidding.........well sort of........LOL

The battery isn't holding a charge. Burned through jump starter. Really need an expert mechanic to go through vehicle.

Is your truck still 6 volts? (original) Were you jumping it with a modern vehicle (which are 12 volt)?

Our trucks' batteries were also hooked up "backwards" compared to modern cars.

Any good auto electric shop should be able to sort thru the electrical system.

If you could poste a few pictures of the engine compartment, especially detail Battery and cables, generator and voltage regulator (on firewall drivers side) along with some of the other wiring.
Have you had this truck running before?
Is the starter turning?
Will it crank over and fire?

Anne, I'm in Myrtle Beach. I have some friends in Chas that are wizards with the old Fords. I can make a few calls, but I'll need more info about what's happened. Sounds to me like Albuq hit the nail on the head. A 6 volt Positive ground vehicle being jumped by a modern 12v is a recipe for disaster.

I feel that a great mechanic is a great mechanic, if you have a mechanic that works on your modern vehicles I would have a talk with him about working on your truck.
I find that the biggest drawback on working on these trucks is hunting down the parts and tying up their lifts and garage space.
I get the parts for my guy and that solves a big part of the problem.

I was just over there last weekend. Don't have plans to go back til at least Jan or Feb.

However, my best friend lives there and he's lived there all his life so probably knows a good mechanic.

If some of your other leads don't work out, let me know and we'll see if we can find someone to help.

Great! I'd appreciate it if you could provide the names of mechanics!
