If they off a truck would'nt they be C8TE? Altho, checking thru the numbers on the site Newbietoford sent I guess not. I just amange to get 'car' V8's almost sorted out in my head and now 'truck' V8's come along to confuse the issue
Hi.
The C8EA H heads that I have came from a 68 Torino GT, "390-2V Premium Fuel" with a 4 speed. I ran them on a 7 Liter 428 from a 66 Galaxie for a few years, installed in a 67 LTD sleeper. I tried to put them on my 74 F150 390 a while back, but the manifolds are quite a bit different. The stock F150 manifolds would not bolt on and I didn't have the heart to drill new holes in the 68 GT heads. So they are still sitting on the shelf...
C8AE-H heads were used from 68 up until '72. At that time, the D2TE heads (yes, D2TE) were used. Basically, I guess, there were no more passenger cars with FE's by the time these heads were made. The ONLY diff between a D2TE and a C8AE are the induction-hardened exhaust valve seats.
The C8AE-H head came in 8, 12 or 16 bolt exhaust manifold patterns. An 8 bolt head can be made into a 12 or 16 bolt, but I believe the upper hole needs to be filled and re-drilled slightly offset. Not sure on that one.
