I feel a surge in my 92 f150 I6 when rolling at low speeds. This occurs when I just start out or am coming to a stop. After reaching 5-8 miles per hour the surge goes away. The engine itself isn't surging and since the brakes are not engaged, I am at a loss.
I know enough about vehicles to be dangerous to myself or the vehicle, so I would really appreciate any help or advice.
Did you check engine light come on? I would check/replace EGR valve & fuel pressure regulator. Sometimes when these components are bad or failing, you have a rough idle and or the engine surges.
I had the egr and throttle body taken care of this past fall so I didn't think that might me it. So...I drove the truck (while warm) at 1-2 mph for about a block. I started hearing a rough squeak every couple of feet we travelled.
I am guessing something is askew with the brakes. I didn't have anybody with me to listen outside though. Am I on the right track do you think?
