Looking to get some different wheels. Kinda like the old original steel but also like the Bassett Racing steelies.
What offset are you guys running on your trucks?
2wd truck going for the old muscle look.
Probably going with 15x8 or 8.5
Photos are always good
Generally dents seem to like near zero offset. In an 8" steel wheel that would be around 4.125" backspace. Much over 8" there is potential for rubbing and extra care is required depending on what you are starting with... 100/150/250/350 ect. Knowing that would help.
15x10- 275/60s. Idk about offset. . I know I've had the chrome 90s models rims, also the steel (wagon wheel) 90s model stocks(both 8.5s I think). I jus like the width, made my truck look like a whole nother beast. Best thing I've ever done was the ten inch wide
If you don't mind going with staggered sizes, consider 15x8 with 4-inch BS in the back with 275/60s and 15x7 with 4-inch BS wearing 235/60s or or 15x7 with 4-inch BS wearing 225/70s....
The 235/60s will provide about a one-inch difference whereas the 225/70 is the same height as a 275/60..... but fat in the back and slightly narrower in front will give ya that muscle truck look.
Brand name tires for the above include BFG Radial TAs, Cooper Cobras, and MasterCraft. Your local tire store may have house brands in the same sizes.
I had a set of rims for mine that a guy special ordered for a bumpside. 8.5s in front and 10s in back. On a bump the wheel base is 2in skinnier in rear so the tires lined up with one another. Guy swore it handles better too. Idk. Had them on my bronco awhile, changed it to tens all around to bc it wasn't wide enough on there either.
BTW. My 78 has Hankooks. Was looking at the coopers, the Hankooks turned out to be the cheapest thing in town.
235/75/15 is listed for wheel width of 6-8". 8" would be a bit on the wide side but give room to grow with wider tires later. If you plan to stick with the 235's, a 7" wheel would fit better.
I have a set of turbine wheels they are 15x91/2 5x5.5. They are located in Coquille Oregon. tdahm9125@gmail.com if interested let me no I have two more sets if you're interested.
Don't remember if I had posted to the thread or not...
Anyway, here's my junk. 77 f-150 named Bruce. 408/c6 Aussie heads blah blah.
Djm beams up front for a 3" drop and rear axle flip which netted about 5.5". Wheels are 15x8 vintage Superior turbines with IIRC 4" backspacing. Tires are 215/70-15 in the front and 255/70-15 rear to get the proper rake
quick pics from August via my wife's Nikon. I.E. first pics I've taken of truck not from a phone...
