Question 1952 F5 Dump Truck

I've been working on this truck for just a short time, but I've had it for a few years. I started to make some real progress until I realized I needed to replace the 59T non-synchronized transmission, because the teeth on the gears were ground badly. I decided to replace it with a T98 synchronized transmission, not realizing that the mountings are different for the two. I'm looking for the rear mounting bracket and the mini bell housing, between the bell housing and transmission to bolt up to the 239 flathead. Does anyone know where I might locate these items? I'm getting anxious to get this running and on the road. I've hit the wall trying to locate these parts.

Welcome to FTE.

Please be aware that you need the 1952 and earlier T-98 for your truck. The much more common 1953 and later transmission will not bolt to the half bell (Ford called it a clutch housing). I also want to replace the crashbox in my truck with the "Synchro-Silent" transmission. I have a thread on the subject that may help with information: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-an-f-2-a.html

Also, member Scotty's 52 F3 recently got the parts to install a T98 in his truck. His thread has some good information in it too: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...with-pics.html

Lot of questions on this. So I need my mind jogged. Back when don't remember
we had a 51 F5 with a synco not used much (water wagon), But our F6 dump has
crunch box. For the life of me I can't remember any problems in putting a sycro in
the 50 F6.??? All I remember is stuffing the thing in there and back to work, and I
defiantly did not cut or weld anything. As I speak the 50 F6 just got serviced for
the snow season !!

When I went from a T9 to the T98 I had to shorten the drive shaft a little. The T98 is a little longer than the T9. Otherwise bolted right in. Maybe back then you had the other drive shaft as well as the trans?

38 coupe is correct. The 53 up T98's do not have a rear mount and I "think" attach differently at the bell. Internal VS external bolts I "think". The 53 up vehicles had mounting ears on the bell housing I believe.

So you need an early T98.
