I have an 83 F250 with a 460 carbarated. It just wont run. I have always had to crank it quite a bit but it would always start. It had a terrible flat spot and would hesitate when ever you punch it. Then one day it just wouldn't stay running for more than 30 seconds. It just seemed like it was running out of fuel. The drip of gas coming from the bottom of the carb along with the hesitation made me think "Carb Problem". So I bought a carb kit and went through it. Replaced the Cone fuel filter and the inline clear plastic jobber (probably not stock) and thought I was good to go. Fired it up to have the same exact problem. Little more responsive but problem still there. My next thought is to set the float settings using the sight hole. If that does it I'll be thrilled but I still would like to know if there is an inertia valve? or if anyone has any idea about fuel delivery rate to determine if enough fuel is being pumped. Any suggestion would be greatful

Maybe an oil pressure cutoff switch malfunctioning? On my '86 there is a sensor next to the oil pressure sending unit which is supposed to cut fuel delivery if oil pressure is lost. From what I understand it is bypassed for sometime just after startup and then kicks in.
