this truck surges at highway speeds after a 10 mile drive even at any throttle position it is a v-8 302 auto
I need help i did code retrieval the code came back ok but i tried diconnecting the vacuum line at the egr valve and plugged the line and it runs like new, i put a vacuum to the egr while at idle and it stalls telling me the valve is ok i saw it move up and down it something to do with the vacuum valve where ever that line comes from i checked it out, some relay looking units. does any body know if i am right or some way to check them

I'll admit that outside of obviously cracked and broken lines, vacuum problems mystify me, so can't comment on that - but I cured a surge problem some years back by replacing fuel filter, which is located driver's side, inside frame rail, about center of the truck. Have replaced every 30K since.
Mine did the same thing 3 weeks ago, id crank it up pull out the drive it run good for about 5 mls, then would start surging, and farther i went the worse it would get, Changed the fuel filter, no more surging, it's cheap it's easy, and if it dont fix it, well it probly needed it anyway. DW
If the fuel filter doesn’t fix the problem it has been my experience that the idle by pass valve on the throttle body either needs cleaning or needs replacing. This usually causes surges when you are stopped at a light or idling but it can also affect cruse speeds.
