Keep in mind that Joying is just one of several Android units out there, and I havent actually got around to trying one yet, but that is my future plan when my JVC maps become totally out of date (wont be long!)
[QUOTE=03X;15849989]Absolutely any DVD deck can be used with the OEM factory DVD.
It is very easy but requires a little bit of custom work. You need to power the OEM overhead dvd (thats it, power and ground), and simply run a video cable from your aftermarket decks video output to the Yellow input jack of the OEM unit on the roof.
You can have the cable come out around the plastic shroud (and be visible) or take apart the OEM unit and remove the input jacks so they they can be plugged in and hidden behind it.
It was very easy for me but I used to do car audio for a living for 5yrs as well as custom coach work for 7yrs.
Any decent stereo shop can do this without a sweat.[/QUOTE
Yeah you can connect this to the existing OEM DVD as described above, but unfortunately with the Joying head unit at this time you will be locked into the DVD that's playing. I REEEEAAAALLLLY want to get this head unit installed but am waiting for them tho develop their software to be a dual output where as you can play DVD in the rear, and listen tho music up front. In talking with Joying they are currently working on the 5.0 head unit, and also waiting for the software tho be developed to have the dual output option, they have not given an exact timeline for that upgrade and said anywhere from 6-12 months. I am tempted to get a 4.4.4 now as I want to have tho Torque Pro in dash, and could potentially upgrade when the time comes. ..

Oh. Well there are LOTS of other android units that have dual zone. Just a quick search of eBay for "Android dual zone double din" and you'll see.
Nice part is features are mostly software based, so yes, if it dont have it now it will later! All the brand name crap you are locked in to whatever they are! Good point to bring up devovino

Copy THAT! I do like the Joying head units and was told they are probably the most well developed out there right now, and they have been very helpful with answering my questions, so that speaks volumes about how their customer service would be.
I will look into some other head units that have dual zone though add I would like that option of powering the existing screen, as well as two other headrest screens, and don't like the idea of doing the install twice! If you're available 03X maybe you could lend a hand as it seems thou knew you're way around electronics, maybe throw in Xbox while we're at it!

Yep powering more screens simply requires a relay (or use the delayed accessory circuit already present in the vehicle) and a composite video amp (distribution hub, whatever you want to call it)
Seriously though adding inputs for an xbox or whatever is easy it all depends how many inputs your deck has.
ya know what this guy here does a pretty good job of walking you through most of what is done to an Ex for installing the head unit and retaining the factory overhead dvd
Hey 03X, do you think there's a work around to get an egt probe kit (for SCT tuner) to work with the torque app?
Also, is there a connector or harness available to hold and mount the two USB plugs into the dash? I don't want the loose wire ends just dangling from the dash
I'm looking on Amazon at the various models. Any idea what the difference is Between the 124, 124d, and 128 models are? I can't seem to figure out if they are all the same or not
Those Joying units look great...but I have a question. Although I've never used it, mine has 2nd seat radio controls in the console. A rear seat passenger can select a different source and use headphones (or I assume) the rear speakers.
Do these Joying units allow this to still function? Again, I've never used it, but have some OCD that wants things to work....

Mine has that too, and currently it is not functioning. I would doubt you will ever be able to control sources/volume, but I looked at mine a bit and there is still an audio signal present for the headphone amp portion, although it is not powered up. I never looked for a schematic as I found a better use (for me) for that plate. I replaced it with a blank steel plate, and put in a 12v outlet and a 115v plug (lots of room for a small inverter behind there). I might end up putting headphone jacks back in there but with an aftermarket headphone amp.
Probably doesnt answer your question very well, sorry
