i have a 1990 f150. its not an all round nice truck but im working on it. what im needing to know is how to install bucket seat instead of having the stock bench.
It's very simple: go to a wrecking yard and see what kind of seats you can get (or shell out $600-800 for new ones). Take a look at your bench. Under the bench proper, you have mounting brackets (or whatever they're called) on which your bench slides. They bolt into the cab and are easy to remove. Once you unbolted those, you can take out the bench. Depending on the state your bone yard seats are in, you'll have to either use your old brackets or the ones on the seats. At least that's what I did (see webpage in sig).
hey thinks for the feedback! right now i just have the buckets setting on 2x4s they really just dont set right on the wood. i think ill try to use the old brackets off the bench though. that sounds like it will work for the drivers seat but what about the passengers? my bench only has 2 brackets on it.
any idea were on the web i can find more info on costum jobs for my 1990 f150. i cant find anything!
think again!
p.s. checked out you site. like the pics. have mine up soon!
Make absolutely sure your seats are bolted securely into your cab!!! If they come loose in the case of an accident, they'll squeeze you flat against your seatbelt!! With the inertia of only 30-40 mph they are like a ton of weight in your back! No way your ribcage or spine will take that without damage (let alone the chance of pushing you out of the seatbelt)!
My seats came on a frame (40/20/40) that boltet right into the old brackets. Can't move the seats individually, but hey, I only paid $300 for them and they were like new
