i am new at this so please bear with me. i need help fixing up my f150. engine is shot (5.0) i purchased a 5.0 ho in good shape. i am told i need to keep my truck intake ect. i have chosen (unless i get councelling) to go with 24# injectors, 56mm bbk throttle body k&n cold air, some even obvious to laymans things, and if i can find one, a 73mm mass air flow sensor ( i saw someone else with one in thier profile). i need HELP!!!
What year is your truck? Is this just a stock 5.0 HO you have?
24lbs/hr are okay...not totally needed unless you plan more power. They are good to around 270rwhp from what I remember.
I'd pass on the TB until you have a cam at least 214/220 in duration to make the most of it.
K&N Cold air is cool (no pun intended) I have one
I have a '94-'95 Mustang MAF on my truck and use the '94-'95 F-150 FIPK with it. This meter is a factory 70-75mm that I ported by cutting out the center bar...it was $15. It only works with the 19lbs/hr injectors. At some point I will get an adjustable box that allows tuning of WOT and Idle mixtures.
The FMS MAF kit is expensive (~$650) but is super easy to install. If you go with the HO cam you will need to rewire the No. 3 injector to the No. 5 spot and rewire No. 7 to the No. 3 spot...that is due to the MAF kit being setup for the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order.
1990 and the ho is stock out of an 88 lincoln mark VIII
oh, and I have a twin throttle boby I'm finding this makes thins difficult or at least more costly. but you know the saying, In for a penny, in for a pound

The 19lb injectors and fuel system is good up to 270HP. I don't think you will be even close to that with that engine. Even if you build it up with heads, cam, exhaust you won't push the 270HP barrier. I wouldn't spend the money on the 24lb injectors and throttle body. If you are going to rebuild the block get it decked, different pistons, change the comp. ratio, heads, cam, ect... you could get up to 270HP plus pretty fast and you would get something out of the injectors and throttle body. The larger MAF may help a little and you can get those calibrated to the 19lb injectors.
You are going to be limited powerwise by your cylinder heads, the stockers suck. The stock 5.0 HO cam is a decent grind (ask lexluthr69) and is actually fairly well suited as a truck cam...its a 266/276 .444" 114lsa.
If you are on a super tight budget, you can pick up GT-40 irons for pretty cheap ($400) or even try to work over the stock heads.
Truck intake for the 302 is awesome for big power, the Edelbrock EFI Truck one has smaller ports for more lowend power.
If you are going to be installing this HO cammed motor, I'd scrape up the cash and go for the MAF kit and rewire it like I explained. Otherwise you will drive with misfires on 4 of the cylinders...
