There were a few days that were a complete blur....

Guess you won't have to work on many of those dreaded PowerStrokes then will you? The state...at least in this part of the world...doesn't seem to be big on diesel pick-ups. The dump trucks & backhoes are...but not the one-ton chassis trucks.
Nope, no diesel pickups here, but several Kubota and Yanmar diesels to keep up. Right now we have 2 GM pickups, but one is due to be replaced and rumor is we're getting a F250 4X4 gasser.

I hear that 6.2L is a real hoss...though I've never had the chance to take one for a spin. Hopefully the state will come to their senses and get those bowties out of there.
Here it is the 8th of December and it's 66F outside. Anyone else need proof that Mother Nature is a psychopath?

Four years ago...when someone took the Pavement Princess for a joy ride...I thought I was going to have to replace it. Figured if I was going to spend the money, mine as well buy a brand new one and be done with it. That was until I priced a 2011 F250 Lariat at my local dealership. Thank GOD!!! they found the truck and it wasn't totaled.
Second week down, not a bad job at all. I think the biggest thing I'll have to get used to is the slow pace at which things happen around there. Gotta pace myself so that I dont work out of a job.
I'm fixing to service the rear end on the Pavement Princess. Starting with the '08 trucks with a 6.4L Ford used an aluminum cover that is approximately 1/2" thicker, so you can't reuse the original bolts from the stamped steel cover. No problem...I'll just go to my local salvage yard and buy the cover off a smashed F250/F350 (SRW) and use those bolts. Of the five yards near me, one doesn't have anything that new and the other four will only sell the entire axle. There's nothing wrong with my 3.73LS...so that's not an option. So I look to Ford...$58 for a brand new cover; I'm kewl with that. Then there's the bolts. If it's a gasser, they're $0.80 a piece; if your burning diesel....$10.41 a piece. Did I mention there's TWELVE bolts on that cover? There is a different part number between the 5.4L-6.8L equipped trucks and the 6.4L trucks. I haven't figured out what the difference is; but the Pavement Princess is going to have aftermarket bolts holding the updated differential cover on back there.
OH!!! Ford says only open/service the differentials if a failure is suspected or the entire axle has been under water. Yeah, I have a problem with that as well.

Where do I send the condolence card? Working yourself to the bone like that.
I would much rather spend $50,000 +++ on one of the trucks in the yard (Peterbilt or one listed in my sig). After my *** chilled from the power rush I remembered why I talked myself out of a new truck several years ago..... price of parts once out of warranty.
I start a new job, well company transfer, this week. Will be nice to have more than a one day weekend for a change.
Hardware stores have bolts for $.35 each. $.65 if you bling out & get stainless. Did you have parts dept. pull a couple of each to compare?

As do I but most people do good to remember to change their oil each year.
Sunday morning on my way to work...just another day at the office; I paid $1.67 a gallon for diesel. That's got to be the cheapest I've seen it in close to ten years. In 2008 when it was pushing $5 a gallon, who'd thunk it that we'd see it that low again?

Congratulations. I guessing your still going to be working around Spadra?

I didn't have them compare them..I was halfway thrilled the guy agreed to pay the "internet price" verses what he claims they normally get. I'm going to stop by a local fastener vendor and get some stainless; just because I don't want to worry about rust. Being a 2WD truck...I seriously doubt anyone will see the diff cover & stainless hardware; well except those jack-wagon hybrid drivers that like to tailgate me on the turnpike. So the my efforts are for function...not fashion.
Pretty much spending my weekend cooking for and entertaining the in-laws. Good thing they're a good bunch of folks. Looking like Xmas will be just me and Micki, a glorious 4 day weekend to rest.
