I have the 4.0 V6 with rods. Not the SOHC, and I cannot find the EGR valve. Can anyone tell me where its at?
I also put in a new fan clutch, the lower end price not the heavy duty. My temp problem is fixed but it makes a loud noise. Is that because I went cheap?
I'm not exactly certain when Ford introduced the EGR valve to the Explorers, but it was sometime between the '92 and '94 model years. That said, your '93 may not have an EGR valve to find.
91 did NOT have EGR so yours may not either.
Your loud noise from replacing the fan clutch (assuming you have a roaring sound on a cold takeoff) is quite normal. In fact, without hearing it is why you were having overheating problem because of it. It will quiet down a little over time, but when it is completely gone, it is probably time for another.

Look for a tube about 1" in diameter coming up from the exhaust. If you see such a tube, it goes right into the egr valve. If you don't find this tube, you won't find an egr.

I found out I dont have a EGR valve. However, what else is doing
the job of the EGR valve? My truck seems like its lacking power and I'm trying to figure out why. It has 130,000K but it doesn't smoke or burn any oil. It seems like something is just off.
