First drive today

Took a ten mile drive today, several things to work out, but worth the wait. No insulation, diesel is pretty loud, steering isn't adjusted properly, turning radius to the right is huge, nearly ran into a dodge pu. The rear brakes and booster from the 94 one ton, and the new discs stop this on a dime, will need some serious adjustment. No heater and some remaining firewall holes make it a little chilly, but super glad to be on the road. Does anyone have a recommendation on sound/heat insulation?

Thundersnow, yes it was fun, I like cold, and love the diesel, forgot to mention my seat had no lock so it slid back and forth w braking/accelerating, truck just needs some adjustment and getting used to. Yep shortbox, not my first choice, but clean trucks are hard to come by around here.

Thanks Bad Rod, I have to return the compliment, I'm liking your truck as is. Looks like your rear tires are wide, what kind of wheels do you have?

Truck looks good, its a great feeling to drive em for the first time.

Here is a couple of sites I like. I have ordered from both with good results. Plus they have good explanations of application needs and uses.

Shortbox is the way to go IMHO. I know the 4x4s are a little bouncy with the SWB, but they really look best!

Hi GeeeMCeee,

The wheels are the old five spokes. They are at least 10 inches wide. Might be wider. I haven't measured. I have an old project jeep (not running) with good tires that I'm going to use on the F100. I am huge fan of '57-60 4x4's.

Short bed with no shocks, grabby brakes and a rough road, bouncy exactly.

Your first pic showed only a disc type wheel, so I thought the others might be similar but wider. Those on my truck are refurb early 90s, but I think only 6-1/2 to 7" wide, like to go a little taller but am restricted by width of rim. Originally it had 12" wide spoke type, thought I might keep them if I ever want to go to the dunes. Just thinking about wheel options. 4x4 the way to go!

Thanks Teddy, I can't imagine why the 57-60 trucks aren't more popular. Also thanks for the info on the sound matl. Did you do a headliner and were you able to put a sound matl above that?

Yes I did an original style head liner with mass loaded sound deadner and 3m fabric above it. Cab is pretty quite except the wind noise (above 65 mph) from door windows and factory style door mirrors.

Looks great man! The first ride is a load of excitement with a hint of butthole pucker just waiting for something to break! Keep up the good work
