Post Shock

I have a 1989 F-150 and sometimes when I grab the metal of the door to close the door I get a shock. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or is it just static electricity.

Thanks

My '88 Cougar gets me every time. There were several grounding wires missing or broken under the hood and body, however. My truck hasn't shocked me once yet. All its grounds are intact as far as I can tell. Coincidences or clues? I dunno. Perhaps it's time I had a basic electricity refresher class and studied Ford electrical manuals. It wouldn't hurt to check your grounding straps anyway, particularly on that old a vehicle (even mine are showing corrosion).

Dry air & the clothing you have on is a big factor . If you have pants or a jacket with polyester you really get a zap . Actually , It shows your trucks grounds are fine , electricity will always take the path of least resistance . What you can do is buy a can of Static Gaurd , Its for clothing , but if you spray it on the seats of your truck it will stop you from getting zapped when you get out of your truck & touch the door . Ive used it a lot & it works fine . Once you notice you are getting zapped again , reapply it .
