EGR Problems
EGR Problems
Hi Folks
Great forum going here.
On my 93 f-150 300 I6 I have been getting the check engine light coming on for about a year now, and it is getting more and more frequent.
Finally, I have checked the engine codes and am receiving 33 "EGR did not open/ respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittently. " which seems to make sense, based on when the engine light comes on.. - It usually comes on after the throttle would be fully open, and then I let off the throttle (When the EGR valve should be opening back up from what I have read) ...
Also, it doesn't seem to happen when the engine is cold, which also indicates an EGR problem...
Last but not least the engine has a little studder at idle.
So, I feel confident that their is an EGR problem : ) hehe.
My question is where do I go now to find out what the problem is?
Thanks in advance.

just clean or replace your egr valve and EVP sensor. go to the junkyard and get one from any low miles 90-94 300-6 or V8 that will fit yours (take it with you). You might pay $40 for the set.
Or (expensive) buy new.
The problem is that the EGR is staying open and feeding too much exhaust into the intake, (i.e. studder @ idle). It is stuck open in a postion that satisfies the computer most of the time. mine does the same thing, haven't replaced mine yet.
