I have a 96 bronco that i use for my daily driver. I also have a yellow lab that carry around with me alot. what I am wanting to do is to take the carpet out of the rear cargo area and spray rhino line in its place. My question is has anyone every done this and what kind of cost am i looking at? or if yall have some other thoughts it would be greatly appreciated.
I have heard of lots of folks Rhino lining everything on the inside of their Broncos so I would think that would work just fine. I think the price varies but I would guess 200-300 bucks maybe?? You can buy the kit yourself and do it for much less. I have read it is pretty dern easy to do.
I have a yellow too, and he goes with me just about everywhere. When I bought the Bronco, it had one of those plastic/rubber cargo liners in it - and it's held up great. It has also protected the carpet under it very well. 100 lbs of wet dog can mess up the bronco pretty good. When it gets too dirty, I just pull it out and spray it off. It also has about a 2 inch "lip" around the edges, therefore keeping water, mud, grime all within the liner area. Nice and easy - and much cheaper than a Rhino Liner. Good luck...
I have two labs (yellow and black) that go a lot of places with me as well. I just solved my unwanted dog hair and funk problem with a large thick blanket this past weekend.
The blanket is large enough to reach over the back of the rear seat and get tucked behind my son's car seat, as well as being held in place under the chrome strip right in front of the tailgate. The sides tucked under the plastic trim around the shell. It made a great "pocket" for the dogs to run around in. After a full weekend of camping I got home and for the first time did not have to clean out the back of the Bronco. I got the idea from an ad for something similar in a hunting catalog.
Now if I can only do something about the slobber on the windows...
As for the DIY lining, my buddy did the entire inside of his CJ 7 in a weekend - that included sanding, removing all the interior, and rolling it in place. Cost him about $120 and he loves it.
Summit carries both Husky Liner and NPI Cargo Liners and floor mats. I just got a set from NPI for my Navigator and I've been happy so far.
For my Bronco though I'm looking into the Rhino Liner option as well, but I'll probably go the DIY route, most places I've seen the kit which is supposed to be able to cover a short bed truck costs around $100. I've already pulled my cargo carpet since my dogs (Bullmatiff, Pit/Lab Mix and a Beagle Mix) had already trashed it beyond repair. Actually it just smelled too bad
VIBR8R If you want a cargo mat check on ebay. I got a brand new one by Ventshade for $30 but I am going to do the Herculiner as soon as hunting season is over because the mat only covers up to the back seat. When I carry my yellow and black lab I always fold the seat up to give them more room.
I have a weimaraner she goes everywhere with me. I have the Husky rubber cargo liner. As an earlier poster said the carpet under is mint and the liner its simple to hose off.
I had my replacement tailgate Rhino lined before I put it on (see my gallery for pics). It cost me $100. I inquired, at the time, how much to do the back portion of the interior (basically from the raised floor under the rear seat to the back including the sides up to the "bedrails"). I was quoted $275 to match the grey on the tailgate and line the rear portion of the interior. I have yet to take the time to have it done but its on the to-do list. Well worth the investment....spill something inside, hose it out. Rains come and the top is off....oh well, water won't hurt the Rhino lining.
In response to : wheelMA1 plus others...
The kit is sold at Pepboys, Kragen, Napa etc..
Cost $80, It's called Herculiner.
3 steps. (tape off area)
1. Sand, then scratch with a scouring pad (supplied).
2. Wipe clean then apply the herculiner with the supplied roller / brush.
3. Reapply as many coats as you want about 2 hours apart.
Really simple. Same process they use to Rhino line.
Hope this helps.
