Well yesterday I was loading my 4-wheeler into the back of the pickup and ramps slipped out and dropped the 4-wheeler and me onto the tailgate-AGH, it broke loose the plastic cap that goes across the top lip, it looks like they clip on but not sure how to finish removing the cap in the center? Anyone know of the cost of the plastic?
Can't help with removal or cost, but when I nailed mine with a walk behind mower I opted to cover it up with a wrap around diamond plate tailgate cover.
Mine is half pulled off too. It did that without anything touching it. Like you said it it has plastic clips that attach it. $62.58 at fordpartsbin.com. you can give that part number to your local dealer or order it to your home. When I do replace mine I was just going to rip the old one off and snap the new one on. I would rather have something more durable than plastic though
My tailgate lip would get cut-up from my atv ramps so I installed a aluminum angle over the lip. I used two metal screws on each end of the angle to tighten it down but when I added the black diamond full tailgate guard that also covers part of the tailgate top lip I added 3 more mounting screws to the angle. I also mounted the diamond guard with metal screws instead of the provided 3M tape.
